Course Information

Located at 5595 E. Moreland, in Phoenix Arizona, Papago is a William Bell designed course. Opened in 1963 by the City of Phoenix the course hosted the USGA National Municipal Championship in the 1970's, and continues to hold Monday qualifying for the Phoenix Open. Current PGA Touring Professionals Billy Mayfair and Jim Carter, along with Heather and Missy Farr former LPGA pros, grew up playing Papago and learned the game from Arch Watkins, former Head Pro at Papago and Arizona Golf Hall of Fame Member, along with Mayfair. A third Arizona Golf Hall of Famer holds the course record of 61, and assisted Mr. Bell in the design of Papago, PGA Pro John Bulla. In 2007, the city of Phoenix leased the golf course to the Arizona Golf Association. The AGA then created the Arizona Golf Foundation to oversee a modification of the golf course in hopes to bring the original design back to frution along with upgrading the facilities. The golf course reopened in December of 2007 with Al Murdoch as Director of Golf. The golf course can be reached at 602-275-8428
